American book review magazine

"Shawshank Redemption meets Lilies of the Field meets A River Runs Through It...If you want gorgeous writing, a family saga set during one of the most interesting periods in U.S. history, or just a story that makes you think, then Jim Logan's Of Saints and Rivers is for you."

Book Sirens Review - 5 Stars

"Of Saints and Rivers immediately pulled me in with its vivid storytelling and compelling characters. The writing is rich and immersive, creating a sense of place and emotion that lingers...A beautiful blend of mystery, emotion, and humanity--I couldn't put it down."

  Jet Galley Review

"Of Saints and Rivers successfully threads that thin line between being an academic-history lesson and a compelling personal story...an epic premise, very well written."

"Logan tells a straight-forward and unblinking account of family relations, both happy and sad, weak and strong, brave and not so brave. It is often reminiscent of a memoir, or a carefully kept journal. The reader can never be quite certain what is reality and what is the result of a vivid imagination. Last I checked, that is what most readers of fiction hope for."

"I have read OF SAINTS AND RIVERS by Jim Logan and have reread a large part of it.  I love the story.  I love the way it's written.  It's beautifully written, and I will read it all again.  I live in western Oklahoma so I'm familiar with many of the places in this book.  I can picture where these places are.  I didn't like history very much in school, but if it had been written like this story, I would have loved it.  This paints an entirely different picture of the places and time involved.  I knew that the German-Russian immigrants had brought wheat to this part of the country. So many facts that are in this book are brought very much to life.  What a mind it takes to write something like this.  There are so many emotions in this story...laughter, tears, love, sadness...just like real life.  It was a great read!"

"I am very interested in western history. To me, history is much more than relating facts in chronological order or weaving the fabric of a good historical fiction tale. I require the "feel". The ineffable "It factor" that transports me into the story as more than a reader. Jim's novel did that for me. It is a rare event when that happens. Not many authors are capable of achieving that effect. Jim sees beyond the surface of things. That partially explains why he is able draw such undercurrents into his writing."

"Jim, I just finished reading your story again so that I could offer more comments from a fresh perspective.   I liked it the first time and enjoyed it more the second time.  The interwoven pattern of life with your main character, Jordan, was delightful and made me consider all of the times that my circles of people converge on one another.  I also appreciated that Jordan was working out his faith and his history as he grew in his own right to become the man that he did.  Your use of your knowledge on the history of the area in western OK was also enlightening."
